Week 1: The First Steps

  • Begin walking with crutches or a walking frame within 24 hours
  • Start gentle range-of-motion exercises
  • Focus on pain management
  • Use ice therapy to manage swelling

Weeks 2-3: Building Confidence

  • Gradually increase walking distance
  • Continue physiotherapy exercises
  • Begin to reduce reliance on walking aids

Weeks 4-6: Growing Stronger

  • Most patients can walk without aids by week 6
  • Begin stationary cycling, swimming
  • Return to light household activities
  • Driving may be possible from week 6

Weeks 6-12: Return to Normal

  • Return to work (desk jobs from week 6-8)
  • Resume most daily activities
