Week 1: The First Steps
- Begin walking with crutches or a walking frame within 24 hours
- Start gentle range-of-motion exercises
- Focus on pain management
- Use ice therapy to manage swelling
Weeks 2-3: Building Confidence
- Gradually increase walking distance
- Continue physiotherapy exercises
- Begin to reduce reliance on walking aids
Weeks 4-6: Growing Stronger
- Most patients can walk without aids by week 6
- Begin stationary cycling, swimming
- Return to light household activities
- Driving may be possible from week 6
Weeks 6-12: Return to Normal
- Return to work (desk jobs from week 6-8)
- Resume most daily activities
- Low-impact sports can usually be resumed
